I've had barely functional can openers all my life. I just didn't know any better. I needed a second one for opening small tuna cans at work, so I bought the black Swing-A-Way. The black does look a little classier and should look better over the years as the other reviewer advised.
I've had it less than a month but I took my old one to work and use this one at home. It is solidly built. I feel like I could open up a 747 with it, but it is fairly light and easy to use and turn the large comfortable handle. It has a solid grip on the can and doesn't slip or fall off until you open the handle. It drops the lid in the can, which is what I like, and it's easy to fish the lid out of the can.
In the couple weeks I've had it, it already has some rust spots on the body, not the working parts (I do rinse it and let it rack dry after every use), but I can live with that. I expect it to last forever. It is made in China but I don't think that has had any negative impact on the high quality.
